Equestrian Kim Prince Needs Our Help

Kim Prince, for those who may not know, is a very celebrated rider. She has participated on 20 Nation’s Cup teams and has 3 World Cup Qualifier wins. Kim was also the top American in the World Cup Finals in Las Vegas, finishing 5th. She has represented the United States on teams in Hickstead England, LaBaule France, Aachen Germany, Rome, St. Gallen Switzerland and many more. She is a permanent fixture within the equestrian sport.

On June 9th 2022, at the Upperville Horse Show in Virginia, Kim’s horse fell over a jump and headed straight to the ground taking Kim with him. Thus resulting in serious injuries to her spine, including a compression and misalignment of C3, C4 & C5 as well as a fracture to one of the vertebrae. She was immediately air-lifted from the show to Inova Hospital in Falls Church, VA.

Kim underwent surgery which placed rods, screws and plates into her neck for support. Within 24 hours, Kim began showing light progress. Kim’s recovery will be long and will require a lot of rehabilitation. It will require a lot of hard work so that she can re-learn how to use her body and regain her motor skills.

This is a heart wrenching tragedy for the equestrian community and for those closest to Kim. Kim needs the help of the community as these injuries are extremely costly.

At this time, we must come together and gather resources for Kim as she fights to get back on her feet and hopefully back on her horse. The Kevin Babington Foundation has introduced a fundraiser for Kim.

Kim’s accident shows us how crucial we must take our safety. Even the best of the best can be injured. Always ride with a helmet and safety vest to help keep you safe. Accidents happen and some are unavoidable, but taking extra measures to protect yourself and your loved ones is of the utmost importance!
